An unavoidable aspect of being human is the presence of stress. Without stress, our ancestors would not have been able to survive under certain circumstances. under fact, they would not have been able to live.

We have to come to terms with the fact that our flight or flight reaction is a component of our genetic makeup. To put that into perspective, contemporary life is more stressful than it has ever been, with a wide variety of obstacles coming our way that keep us on our toes.

However, even though we no longer have to be concerned about being trampled on by a wooly mammoth, we still have to be concerned about meeting deadlines, paying bills, and the number of followers we have.

Nevertheless, there is one certain thing: stress is not healthy for us in general. For those of us who are becoming older, stress may be hazardous, and it is not beneficial to us in the long term.

Furthermore, while we may never be able to completely remove stress from our lives, we can successfully manage it and exercise control over how we respond to it. To manage difficult situations and maintain your composure, here are some of the most efficient methods to do it.

Meditation is a practice.

The majority of people, when they think about meditation, picture themselves seated in a cross-legged position with candles blazing and incense around them.

That being said, the reality is that meditation may be conducted anywhere, and it does not need the use of incense. Keeping your thoughts under control and focusing on the here and now are the two most important aspects of meditation.

To achieve a state in which you are doing nothing but just being, you focus your attention on your breath and practice mental relaxation. Your mind will revert to its natural condition when you do not worry about judgment, thinking, or tension.

You will develop a feeling of self-awareness and resilience, which will enable you to become more adept at managing stressful circumstances while maintaining a sense of composure.

Whenever you find yourself doing anything like cleaning the dishes or even riding the bus, take a moment to calm your thoughts and just focus on your breathing.

Don’t be cruel to yourself.

The majority of the time, we are so preoccupied with being good friends, good moms, and good lovers that we forget how to be kind to ourselves.

Make sure you don’t overlook the significance of loving yourself in the same way that you would love anybody else who you care about. To the same extent that everyone else does, you are deserving of self-care and compassion.

Place a high priority on activities that not only make you happy but also make you feel good. Put your sleep first, make exercise a regular part of your routine, and brush your hair every once in a while. Neglecting yourself physically will, in the long run, lead to neglecting yourself emotionally.

If you do not engage in self-care practices, then it is only a matter of time until you reach a point of exhaustion. It is impossible to manage difficult events with comfort or reasoning when your cup is empty because you are unable to handle them.

Establish Boundaries

A lack of capacity to say “no” is one of the most significant factors that contribute to stress for a lot of individuals. At times, it is OK to establish limits and communicate to others that you just do not have the time or energy to engage in a certain activity.

Learn to identify your boundaries, and don’t be hesitant to let others know what they are. If someone is crossing a boundary, you should graciously inform them that it is not going to work for you, and you should put your self-preservation first.
