Vicky Kaushal starrer Sardar Udham Singh follows the story of the revolutionary who assassinated Michael O’Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab in British India in 1940, to avenge the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Vicky Kaushal is quite excited about his upcoming film Sardar Udham Singh, a Shoojit Sircar directorial. The actor calls the opportunity “a dream come true” and talks about what appealed to him to play the titular role in the biopic.
“It’s a dream come true for me to be working with Shoojit Sircar because it’s a very different process of acting and making a film when you are working with him. This story and character really appealed to me and the way that Shoojit da wanted to present ‘Uddham Singh’… revolutionary to the audience. That really appealed to me. The take on it is really fresh and I am looking forward to it” Vicky told IANS.
Titled Sardar Udham Singh, the film is directed by Shoojit Sircar and written by Ritesh Shah and Shubendu Bhattacharya.
It follows Singh, the revolutionary who assassinated Michael O’Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab in British India in 1940, to avenge the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Earlier, the film was supposed to star Irrfan Khan in the lead role. However, it was reported that the actor had to be replaced after he was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour.
Sardar Udham Singh is scheduled to hit the screens in 2020.
