Mukesh Ambani was born on April 19, 1957, as Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani, to Dhirubhai Ambani and Kokilaben Ambani in Aden (present-day Yemen). He has two sisters—Nina Bhadrashyam Kothari and Dipti Dattaraj Salgaocar—and a younger brother, Anil Ambani.
Mukesh Ambani spent a year in Yemen and Dhirubhai Ambani moved back to India in 1958 to begin trading in spices and textiles.
