Not only at the domestic box office, but there seems no stopping for the Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff starrer action flick ‘War’ as the film rakes in huge numbers at the international box office as well. While the film shattered records at the domestic box office, ‘War’ has put up the most impressive performances by a Bollywood film at the Overseas markets this year.
Staring the fourth quarter of the year with a bang, the Siddharth Anand directorial has provided a much-needed push for Bollywood films in the overseas market at a time when the year has so far been gloomy. ‘War’ is now the highest grosser Bollywood film of the year as the film hit $11 million in its second weekend.
The best performance for the film has come in from the Gulf region with collections of $4 million and it should become the top grosser in this market also. Salman Khan’s ‘Bharat’, which was an Eid release had raked in over 40% of its overseas business in the Gulf region. ‘War’ also did well in US/Canada, which is around $3.3 million. The total of these two markets is nearly $7.5 million. The film has also scored big in Nepal with a business of over $700k.
The film has surpassed the overseas collections of Salman Khan starrer ‘Bharat’ which released during Eid this year. The film did a total collection of $10.71 million and was the best performance by any Bollywood film in the overseas markets this year. However, ‘War’ has now set the record straight with its incredible performance.
War | $11 million |
Bharat | $10.71 million |
Gully Boy | $10.25 million |
Uri – The Surgical Strike | $7.46 million |
Kalank | $7.17 million |
Mission Mangal | $7.15 million |
Kabir Singh | $6.95 million |
Total Dhamaal | $6.53 million |
Super 30 | $5.19 million |
Badla | $4.68 million |
It is to be seen whether ‘War’ can surpass Hrithik Roshan’s highest-grossing overseas film ‘Bang Bang’. The film which released in 2014 had collected $12.75 million. ‘War’ has already surpassed the collection of Tiger Shroff’s highest grossing Overseas film ‘Baaghi 2’ which did a lifetime collection of little under $7 million.
Helmed by Siddharth Anand, ‘War’ also features Vaani Kapoor and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles. Shot across seven countries, the film boasts of jaw-dropping action sequences and hit the screens on October 2.
