Deepak Chahar recorded the best-ever bowling figures in T20Is on Sunday as India beat Bangladesh in the series decider in Nagpur. Chahar also became the first male Indian cricketer to take a T20I hat-trick.

Deepak Chahar draw figures of 6/7 in 3.2 overs in the 3rd T20I vs Bangladesh in Nagpur on Sunday. These are the excellent bowling figures in the history of T20 internationals.

Chahar’s period get India to a 30-run win over Bangladesh as the hosts won the series 2-1.

The prior record of the best T20I bowling figures had associated to Sri Lanka’s Ajantha Mendis, who had taken 6/8 vs Zimbabwe in 2012.

Not only in T20Is, Chahar’s figures of 6/7 are also the fourth best in T20s around the globe.

In more than 8000 T20 matches played around the world, Chahar’s figures are only behind Colin Ackerman, Arul Suppiah and Shakib al Hasan – all of whom have better figures, but in domestic and authorize T20 matches.

Deepak Chahar also became the first male Indian cricketer to take a hat-trick in T20Is. In women’s cricket, Ekta Bisht had become the first Indian to take a hat-trick in a T20I, when she had recorded 3/16 against Sri Lanka in 2012.

Six Indians have international hat-tricks to their name, but none of them came in T20Is. Kapil Dev, Chetan Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Shami have ODI hat-tricks, while Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan have Test hat-tricks.

Chahar was disclosed the Man of the Match as well as the Man of the Series. Speaking after the match, he said, “Rohit had told me that he will give me some central overs. I always focus on the next ball.”
