Ajith Kumar Biography
Ajith Kumar is a Tamil cinema actor and motorcyclist who was born in Hyderabad as the middle child of a Tamil father and a Sindhi mother. He has appeared in a number of Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films. He does, however, have deep ties to Tamil culture and society as a result of his upbringing in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He left Asan Memorial Senior Secondary School in 1986 to work as a part-time two-four wheeler mechanic and then as a full-time garment exporter in Erode until 1990. Numerous commercial companies pushed him into modelling for print media advertisements.
Ajith began dating Shalini, his Amarkalam co-star, in 1999. They married in 2000 in Chennai, inviting a large number of Kollywood celebrities and actresses, including Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Joseph Vijay, Surya Sivakumar, and R. Madhavan. The couple welcomed a daughter, Anoushka Kumar, on January 3, 2008.
Ajith is an avid car racer who has competed in a variety of events including the Formula 2 Championship, the 2003 Formula Asia BMW Championship, and other races abroad.
Ajith began his film career as an actor in the Telugu film Prema Pustagam in 1992, at the age of 21. His subsequent feature was the blockbuster Tamil flick Amaravathi. Pavithra, his second Tamil film, was delayed by 17 months due to a racing injury that rendered him bedridden. Both films garnered widespread acclaim from the Tamil public. Aasai, directed by Vasanth and produced by Mani Rathnam, was his third Tamil film and helped launch his career as an actor in Kollywood ten months later in 1995.
Ajith’s first big-budget film was Aasai; nevertheless, it wasn’t until Agathiyan’s blockbuster Vaanmathi and, more specifically, the National Award-winning Kadhal Kottai that he established himself as a Kollywood actor. Ajith later starred in Amitabh Bachchan’s Tamil debut film Ullasam. For the first time in his career, he received a remuneration in excess of Rs. 1 million from this enterprise.
Following that, he starred in a succession of highly popular films, most notably Kadhal Mannan and Vaali, both of which starred Simran. Ajith’s career reached a new zenith with Vaali. He was cast in the film in a dual role. One as a deaf-and-dumb twin who pines for the wife of his naive sibling. Following the success of Amarkalam with his then-fiancee, Shalini, Ajith established his own distribution firm, AK International, with an office in the premises of NIC Arts, which was headed by his ex-friend, producer, and distributor S. S. Chakravarthi. This location was relocated in 2006.
In 2000, Ajith was cast in Kandukondain Kandukondain opposite Mammooty, Abbas, Tabu, and Aishwarya Rai. The audio rights to the film were sold for a record-breaking Rs. 66 million. Mugavari was the next film in which Ajith starred alongside Jyothika Saravanan.
Ajith played Shahrukh Khan’s younger brother in the commercially unsuccessful historical film Asoka in 2001. He began the year with A. R. Murugadoss’s enthralling film Dheena. This film portrayed Ajith as a raucous character, and he co-starred with Suresh Gopi and Laila Mehdin.
Citizen with Vasundhara Das was an experimental triumph, earning the actor widespread praise and honours; nonetheless, the film failed to make an impact at the box office. Citizen was followed by Poovellam Un Vaasam, which earned an average amount of money as well. The films Raja with Jyothika Saravanan and Red were a fiasco for the actor and signalled his career’s demise.
Ajith starred in Anjaneya, Jana, and Attagasam between 2003 and 2004. While Anjaneya and Jana were box office duds, Attagasam was a box office smash, spawning a blockbuster soundtrack record. He later appeared in the film Ji, which had a strong opening but fell short of long-term popularity. Ajith appeared in three films in 2006.
He first appeared in P. Vasu’s Paramasivan and afterwards in Perarasu’s Thirupathi. Both were a success. Later same year, he released Varalaru: The Godfather’s History, a three-year-in-the-making film directed by K. S. Ravikumar. Varalaru was a box office smash due to the three parts he portrayed as an elderly man who was formerly a classical dancer and two identical twins, one of whom was the adversary.
Ajith’s first film, Aalwar, was with newbie director Chella in 2007. Aalwar did not live up to the expectations generated by Varalaru’s success. As a result, it was a huge disappointment for Ajith. Following Aalwar, Ajith starred alongside Trisha Krishnan in a remake of a 1989 Malayalam film that won a National Film Award, Kireedam.
Billa released on December 14, 2007, shattering all of his prior records. The film was a remake of Rajinikanth’s Tamil blockbuster Billa from 1980. In 2010, he released Asal, which was not a commercial success. Of 2010, he began shooting on the film Mankatha, directed by Venkat Prabhu, which gave Ajith Kumar his best opening in his career and also proved to be a financially successful endeavour.
Following Arrambam, he starred in Siva’s Veeram, which was released on Pongal 2014 to positive reviews from reviewers. Ajith’s next film, Yennai Arindhaal, was directed by Gautham Menon and released on February 5, 2015.
